Hi Richard,
Gkrellm will only display the sensors reported by the system, so this
is really an lm_sensors question. ACPI often presents some sensors to
the system, but without ACPI you need to communicate with the sensor
chip directly (hence the addition of those modules). With ACPI on, the
motherboard firmware will communicate with the sensor chip but may not
present all the information available (which could be an oversight, but
also could be because there is actually nothing hooked up to some of
the chip's inputs).
As the lm_sensors docs will tell you, most motherboards don't document
their sensors very well, so you'll likely have to do a lot of
experimentation with /etc/sensors.conf to get things working properly.
If you have ACPI on you will likely need to override some things in
order to also talk to the sensor chip directly, and there's a risk of
conflicts having both ACPI and lm_sensors communicating with the same
chip at the same time, but you have to try this out to see if it works.
Often it does.
The lm_sensors command `sensors` will list all known sensors (based on
/etc/sensors.conf) and once this is displaying the correct output,
Gkrellm should report the same.
Cheers,
Adam.
