This is a very late response because I don't usually have the time
to read gkrellm-related email.
If you have shell-scripting skills and know of a source of
exchange rates, you could use gkrellm-fchart to do that. In its
simplest form, you need a script that repeatedly reads the
exchange rate and writes it to a file; a single number on a single
line is sufficient. The fchart plugin will read that file once
per second and chart it.
